Starvin Hungry

Montreal's Starvin Hungry is not messing around. Mere seconds into to the band's debut album "Damnesty" (GREN014) you realize that this is a rock n' roll band whose only objective is to move their audience inside and out by singing and playing intense music.

Starvin Hungry is the brainchild of ex-Torontonian John Milchem who set out to recruit new members after his arrival in Montreal in 2000. Drummer Spencer Warren (ex Line Three) would come first, followed by an impressed Eric Larock, just out of Tricky Woo and soon after, guitarist Scott Mucklow. Larock would eventually leave in 2004 to rejoin the Woo, passing on bass duties to Soft Canyon bassist Dave Lavoie.

Since finally forming as a four-piece, Starvin Hungry has set stages on fire whenever possible and has shared bills with the likes of The Bellrays, The Pattern, International Noise Conspiracy, The Mooney Suzuki and Sahara Hotnights.

Produced in four days in March 2003 by Bionic's Jonathan Cummins, "Damnesty" is a record of ferocious rock & roll energy (The Stooges, Stones, The Gun Club, Motorhead, The Velvet Underground and John Lee Hooker) and tight-nailed-to-the-floor burning fire. The results speak for themselves.
