SHANE WATT PLANS CD RELEASE PARTY FOR DEBUT ALBUM ON GRENADINE
Shane Watt, who has played alongside numerous artists including Adamtozoe, Lederhosen Lucil, Biffy Perdu and Cooper Thomson, is now set to release his own debut album, Elan's Diner, across Canada on Grenadine Records. An album release party is scheduled to coincide with the launch and will be held on Saturday March 15th at Le Cagibi in Montreal (5490 St. Laurent Blvd, 514-509-1199).
Shane Watt is a road scholar who has been peddling furious, powerful music in more barrooms and for more years than he cares to remember. On this debut album Watt presents the culmination of a musical journey that has seen him channeling the Clash, the Kinks, CCR and Nick Drake. A tribute to Canadiana reminiscent of innocent 70's pop psychedelica (the Beachboys, the Zombies), Elan's Diner is an enduring mix of bittersweet love ballad, synaptic punk and soulsearching folk.
The CD release will include performances by Krista Muir and new Grenadine labelmates, Nightwood. The show starts at 10 P.M. at Le Cajibi $5 at the door.

NIGHTWOOD PLANS SPRING CD EP ON GRENADINE Montreal, QC, January 23, 2008 – After only 10 months of playing on the scene, one of Montreal's newest bands, Nightwood, has inked a deal with Grenadine Records that will see its first mini-album, "Big City EP" (recorded by Martin Horn at Digital Bird Studios), distributed across Canada.
Nightwood is a female-fronted indie rock band with two clean guitars and a lone bearded drummer. Decidedly rock n' roll in their approach, this trio bucks convention by delivering a big sound while delighting in the simplicity of its instrumentation. What you find are commanding dual vocals, at times eerily intertwined and at others sweetly harmonized, creating minimalist guitar music which succeeds in saying a lot with as little as possible. While there is no bass, Nightwood are still, through and through, a rock band. Influences include Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, The Velvet Underground, Sleater Kinney, NickCave and Low.
Nightwood plan to announce the launch of their first video, touring shows and their official release date in the coming weeks leading up to the CDEP retail date. For the exclusive sneak-peak of the EP, a few limited 3-song promo CDs will be available as prizes this Friday at the aptly-named Indyish.com event "CITY Mess" (Studio 300, 9pm, 409 St-Francois-Xavier).
